Miracles
or Madness? News of the miracle spread around the world with lightning speed. A Jewish fish-cutter in New York was busy slaughtering a batch of carp when one of them started shouting apocalyptic warnings to him in Hebrew. The fish shouted that everyone needed to account for themselves because the end is near, says Zalmen Rosen, the fish-cutter. The fish told Zalmen to pray and study the Torah, before identifying itself as the soul of a local man who had died the previous year. After a moment of stunned silence all hell broke loose. Mr Rosens co-worker Louis Nivelo was convinced the talking fish was the work of Satan, and ran around screaming: Its the devil! The devil is here! before collapsing into a pile of packing crates. Zalmen panicked and tried to kill the fish with a machete-sized knife. But the carp bucked so wildly that he succeeded only in slicing a huge gash in his own thumb, and had to be rushed to hospital. The fish flopped off the counter still muttering in Hebrew and was butchered by Louis Nivelo. Word quickly spread that a miracle had occurred in New York. It sparked a heated debate around the world. Was it a genuine miracle or just the ramblings of two rather fevered imaginations? After all, to those brought up with biblical tales of Moses parting the Red Sea, the story of a talking fish hardly counts as a miracle. Would God really reveal His presence and deliver his prophesies through a fish destined for the freezer? It seems unlikely, but many think God is choosing to reveal His presence with increasingly surreal miracles tailored for the media age. Can
We Really Transplant a Human Soul?
By
Danny Penman The progress of medical science in the past 30 years has been so rapid that yesterday's miracles are tomorrow's commonplace procedures. So it has proved with heart transplants, which have become almost routine in hospitals around the world. Yet every once in a while a story emerges which should cause us all to sit up and take note that there is nothing "routine" or "commonplace" about such complex operations. The suggestion, highlighted again this week, that donor patients could not only be acquiring the organs but also the memories - or even the soul - of the donor is surely one such story. This bizarre possibility was raised by the inexplicable case of Sonny Graham - a seemingly happily married 69-year-old man living in the U.S. state of Georgia. He shot himself without warning, having shown no previous signs of unhappiness, let alone depression. His friends described it as an act of passion, not of reason. The case might have remained just an isolated tragedy were it not for the fact that Sonny had received a transplanted heart from a man who had also shot himself - in identical circumstances. To make things even more intriguing, shortly after receiving the heart transplant, Sonny tracked down the wife of the donor - and fell instantly in love with her. Hypnotist
Has Pain-Free Surgery Without Anaesthetic At one point, Alex Lenkei even heard the surgeon say: "Can I have the saw, please?" Because he had put himself into a hypnotic trance, however, he said he felt no pain as the doctors chiselled out a walnut- sized chunk of bone from his wrist. Mr Lenkei, 61, had the operation to treat his painful osteoarthritis. He said: "The results have been amazing. I feel ace." The
Spontaneous Healing
of Belief
By
Laurie Nadel, Ph.D. Do you believe that you were born with the power to reverse disease, to create peace and abundance, or perhaps even change reality itself? Gregg Braden does. A former computer engineer for Cisco systems, Braden spent more than two decades studying forgotten texts in remote monasteries in the high Himalayas; traveling to remote locations to consult with sages about ancient wisdom. In The Spontaneous Power of Belief: Shattering the Paradigm of False Limits, Braden argues for the existing of an underlying code that can help you communicate directly with a matrix of energy that some call The Universe. Others call this divine matrix The Creator or God. Free Audio Seminar with Stuart Lichtman

20% of Scientists Use Brain-Boosting Drugs By
Daniel J. DeNoon The online poll from the British science magazine didn't ask readers how they felt about professional athletes using drugs to enhance their physical performance. But when asked how they felt about professional thinkers using drugs to enhance their cognitive performance, nearly 80% said it should be allowed. While only a fifth of the poll's 1,400 respondents admitted to drug use to improve concentration, nearly two-thirds said they knew of a colleague who did. And if there were "a normal risk of mild side effects," nearly 70% of the scientists said they'd boost their brain power by taking a "cognitive-enhancing drug." Scientists from all over the world participated in the poll, but 70% of respondents said they were from the U.S. Scientists Probe the Secrets of Meditation By
Naomi Law Sceptics argue that it is not a practical way to try to deal with the stresses of modern life. But the long years when adherents were unable to point to hard science to support their belief in the technique may finally be coming to an end. Change

Alan Tutt If
this is true,
then where is
the scientific
evidence? "Choose To Believe" was written to address these issues. Not only does it reveal the scientific evidence regarding the Power of Faith, but it also outlines a step by step action plan to discover what you really believe (and why it may be very different from what you think you believe), and how to change limiting beliefs to support a more empowered life.
