Are Alien Abductions merely Lucid Dreams?

Source: Digital Journal

Researchers at the Out-of-Body Experience Research Center (OOBE Research Center) at UCLA, say they have evidence that claims of close encounter with UFOs and extraterrestrials result from vivid or lucid dreams.

Lead researcher Michael Raduga, of the OOBE Research Center, in the study involving 20 volunteers which began on October 7, 2011, designed a method for coaching people how to have lucid dreams involving apparently real encounters with aliens. The subjects were coached on how to induce out-of-body encounters by mentally performing a series of exercises.

The researchers found it was not difficult to induce typical alien abduction reports after only a few days (3 days) of training the subjects. Using the exercises they had designed, the researchers found they could teach subjects how to have close encounters with aliens.

Lead researcher Michael Raduga, whose research design is based on the theory that reports of alien encounters come from very realistic dream experiences, reasons that successfully coaching people how to have realistic dream experiences of alien encounter provide strong evidence in support of the theory that alien encounters are mostly lucid dream experiences, that is, the product of people's imaginations.

The researchers at OOBE Research Center report that in their study, more than half the volunteers experienced at least one full or partial out-of-body experience and seven made contact with UFOs and extraterrestrial beings. The study subjects were coached to "separate from their bodies" in lucid dream state and look for aliens in their homes.

Raduga commented on the results of the training procedure:

"Some could do it [have an out-of-body experience] by the first attempt. Some needed three to five attempts to have an out-of-body experience. Not everybody could do it — some were unable to do it because of their fear. They were able to separate from their body but they became too afraid to look for aliens."

The researchers reported 35 percent of volunteers learned how to make contact with "aliens," and described these encounters in detail. A subject identified as Alexander N., described his experience:

"I tried to find aliens. Three of them materialized right before my eyes. They seemed more like creatures from the movie 'The Thing' than tadpoles with eyes like Princess Jasmine. They wanted to scare me, not to make contact. As a result, I was extremely frightened and regained awareness in my own body."

Another volunteer identified as Craig P., said:

"I took a nap from 10:40am to 11:20 am. I was having difficulties in falling asleep so I thought nothing was going to happen. After a while I must have fallen asleep as I noticed a floating type of sensation. I told myself to go see aliens. The next scene I was near a mountain in a clearing with trees around it. There was a space ship. There were two aliens with helmets on. They also had a type of robot with them. It was about 7 ft tall and was silver in color. The aliens did not appear to be friendly. When the alarm went off I felt like I was 100 miles away and it was difficult to come back to the physical body."

Raduga comments on the implications of his experiment:

"Alien contact is not indicative of the existence of otherworldly civilizations, but rather of a poorly studied state of consciousness that people fall into inadvertently. When people experience alien abductions in the night, they usually don't know they are actually in REM sleep and having an out-of-body experience...It's very realistic and people cannot understand how it happens."

The OOBE Research Center study concluded:

"The fact that UFOs and extraterrestrials may be deliberately encountered in a controlled manner, and within a few days proves that such experiences are a product of the human brain...This experiment’s data is thus vastly more reliable than that of typical alien encounter 'eyewitness accounts' that never undergo verification."

Scientists have long believed close encounters with extraterrestrials are the result of spontaneous out-of-body experience. The discovery, in 2007, of method for inducing out-of-body state paved way for the researchers at OOBE Center to demonstrate that alien encounters might be out-of-body-experience.

Incidentally, the OOBE experiments may also shed light on some passages in the Old Testament scriptures, such as Book of Ezekiel, which commentators have long been trying to explain in naturalistic terms.
