Negative Thinking for Weight Loss

Let's face it , your physical health is as important as your mental health for your overall well-being.
But mental and physical health go hand-in-hand... this is because getting in shape is just as much, if not more, a mental and emotional process as it a physical one.
Even if you get the physical results, you still need to make sure that you make the changes needed in your mind and emotions so that your new behaviors stick.
You don't want to be like 95% of dieters, for example, that gain all their weight back within a year of losing it.
But of course, there's always the question: "How can you create a mindset that will help you to stick with your weight loss plan in the first place?" If you're burning up to learn this secret, that this might be one of the most important things you'll ever read...
First, Motivation is Both Positive and Negative
Many people who try to create a mindset for getting in shape only make use of the positive thoughts and emotions: having a great body, having a lot of energy, looking good naked etc. And of course, these can provide you with a powerful source of motivation and inspiration...but some days, they just aren't enough to keep you motivated and sticking with your plan.
That's where the power of negative thoughts and emotions come in.
In other words, negative energy is energy just as positive energy is. The question is whether or not it's actually driving you towards actions which will support your commitment. In fact, when you think about it, positive thoughts can actually keep you from sticking with your commitment.
After all, if you sit in front of the TV every night and say: "I've been doing good with my weight loss plan, I'll be fine if I take a few days off... I've earned it." You might be thinking positive thoughts and patting yourself on the back, but you're still not sticking with your commitment.
So the bottom line is that if you want to stay motivated to stick with your plan, you need to learn to use both positive and negative energy...
1. You've probably already come up with several reasons why you want to get into shape, but it's important that you write ALL of them down and keep them in a place where you'll see them every day... writing things down will solidify your commitment.
2. In addition to this, if you haven't made a dream board with some visual reminders of what you want, and put it somewhere that you can see it every day. This will help you to keep your mindset focused on the positive things that you're hoping to gain from getting in shape. But that's only half of the story...
3. Now it's time to come up with several NEGATIVE reasons why you want to get in shape. For example, what are the potential consequences of being overweight? How might your health and longevity be affected later in life? What kind of opportunities will you miss out on to spend time with the people who you love?
4. Do some research into the grim realities of heart disease, diabetes, gangrenous limbs (caused by diabetes), sleep apnea, erectile dysfunction and any other negative health consequences you can think of. As you do this, your fear of these things will drive you to do something to prevent them from happening.
Together with the momentum caused by your positive desires, the fear and disgust of these negative consequences will make you a furious and determined ball of passion!
Most important, start this process right now... before you have the chance to put it off...
